Call For Submissions
Family Story is seeking submissions for our blog! We pay $100 if we publish your post. Here are the details.
We’re running a blog series that examines the ways anti-Black racism affects individuals and families and perpetuates the cycle of anti-Black violence. So we want your essays that discuss your firsthand account of the following:
Have you dealt with racism toward children?
Have you noticed folks using coded language to talk about you/your family in personal and professional settings?
What racist assumptions have been made about you/your family in personal and professional settings?
Have you or your family experienced anti-Black police violence and what impact did it have on you?
What challenges did you face when creating your family (for example, encountering structural racism in the adoption process of accessing fertility treatments)?
What else have you and your family dealt with that needs more attention?
The Technical Stuff:
Submissions should be between 600 and 1,200 words, and include hyperlinks if you are citing other work. Please submit essays as Word documents, and be sure to include a short bio with links to your social profiles.
Pitches are great too! If you have an idea for an essay, feel free to pitch it to us. (We can’t promise to publish anything until we see a full draft, of course).
Please send your pitches or completed essays and opinion pieces for consideration to meredithlandry@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
